Pre-K Now National Teleconference:
Breaking Down Barriers to Quality Pre-K:
A National Strategy Session
Wednesday, December 10th, 2008
12:30-3:00pm
WGBY Studios
44 Hampden Street
Springfield, MA 01103
WGBY Public Television, Cherish Every Child* and the Pioneer Valley Plan for Progress Early Childhood Education Strategy Team are proud to offer a live broadcast and local strategy session surrounding the Pre-K Now 2008 national teleconference.
This teleconference, hosted by Ray Suarez of PBS’ The NewsHour, will feature success stories from communities where pre-k advocates are conquering common implementation challenges that can impact the quality of programs. Throughout the broadcast, there will be breakout activities hosted at the local level to encourage collaboration. Questions from our local site may also be submitted to the national conference for nationwide discussion.
Here are just some of the lessons and activities planned for discussion during this event:
- How local public schools and community-based providers have fostered the collaboration needed for a diverse or mixed delivery system;
- How states have built professional development systems that help all pre-k teachers improve their skills;
- How teachers and administrators have employed innovative tactics to better engage families in pre-k programs;
- How we can make progress on these and other fronts during these tough times for our economy and government budgets.
Dessert and coffee will be served.
We hope you will join us for an afternoon of brainstorming and sharing of ideas!
All are welcome to attend. Please register now by emailing Heather Lavigne at WGBY: hlavigne@wgby.org
